what makes us different

Our Approach to Veterinary Care in Inlet Beach 30A, FL

As a client of Paws In Paradise Animal Hospital, you can expect our full attention to your pet’s needs. When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted warmly, and we’ll invite you into an examination room after checking in your pet. One of our veterinary technicians will start by asking about your pet’s medical history, current condition and the reason for your visit, gathering data for the doctor. One of our doctors will then examine your pet, ask you further questions, and may recommend diagnostic tests if needed. Once the tests have been run, which can usually be done in-house, the doctor will discuss a possible diagnosis and treatment plan if warranted.

This is a great time to ask questions. Our veterinary team wants to make sure you’re completely comfortable with the information we’re providing. Our veterinary technician will likely come back to wrap things up and will provide you with helpful pet care information and answer any wellness and care questions you may have. Our front desk staff will process your payment and schedule any needed follow-up appointments.

Please note: Our goal is to see all our clients and patients on time, and although we have contingencies for emergencies, there will be times where the unexpected will create delays. We will ensure these are minimized as much as possible. We are excited to meet you and your pets!

Meet Mary Alys Tubbs, DVM

Dr. Mary Alys Tubbs grew up in the Birmingham, Alabama area and knew from a very young age that she wanted to be a veterinarian. One of her favorite pastimes as a child was going to the zoo and learning about the vast array of animals. Dr. Tubbs graduated Summa Cum Laude from Auburn University in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in Zoology and a minor in business.

Following undergrad, she attended Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she met her husband, Dr. Jonathan Tubbs, and friend, Dr. Jeremy George. The three graduated together in May of 2020 and decided shortly after to start their dream business, Paws in Paradise Animal Hospital.

During veterinary school, Dr. Tubbs developed a special interest in emergency medicine and was the Vice President of the Student Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (SVECCS). Her other medical interests include preventive medicine and soft tissue surgery.

Dr. Tubbs strongly believes in exceptional patient care and treats her patients as she would her own pets. In her free time, Dr. Tubbs enjoys going to the gym, relaxing on the beach, watching Auburn football (War Eagle!), and trying new restaurants and breweries. She loves spending time with her friends, her family, her husband, and their two fur-babies, Finn and Nala.

Meet Jeremy George, DVM

Dr. Jeremy George grew up living on the water in Panama City Beach, Florida. The youngest of four siblings, he and his brother and sisters spent most of their time on the beach or playing in the woods. During all his adventures in nature, he gained a great appreciation of all the creatures he encountered, this led him to volunteer at the local zoo and marine park. He began to work with a marine institute where he would help with marine animal stranding and rehabilitation.

Dr. George attended Eckerd College where he received his bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in chemistry. Over the next four years, Dr. George worked as a chemist for a defense contractor and joined a small toxicology and pharmacogenetics company before enrolling in Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. While in veterinary school, he continued his work with marine animals by completing multiple internships with SeaWorld Orlando and Gulf World Marine Park. In addition, Dr. George worked in Auburn’s clinical pharmacology lab where he researched endocannabinoids and phytocannabinoids in dogs.

His special interests include marine animal medicine, wildlife rehabilitation, surgery, and clinical pathology/pharmacology. In his free time, he enjoys being outside or on the water – surfing, fishing, camping.

In his professional life, Dr. Jon has earned two degrees in education and has taught in several different venues including high schools, universities, and adult education through his service in the U.S. Peace Corps. Dr. Jon also spent several years working in animal welfare, biosecurity, and assessment in the food animal industry.

Dr. Jon returned to school to pursue a career in veterinary medicine and graduated from Auburn University CVM in May of 2020, shortly after which he married his much better half, Dr. Mary Alys Tubbs.
